What is RSS all about
Now-a-days RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication and it is designed to save time. RSS delivers updates from many of your favorite news sites or blogs to one single web page or an RSS reader.
RSS is how websites send their updated posts to your preferred reader whenever they have something new to say. This will end up saving you hours of wasted time looking for fresh content on all of your regularly browsed sites.
With RSS you won’t need to manually check each and every bookmarked site for new content. You won’t have to sit there waiting for all of their fancy designs and images to load. You won’t forget to look at your bookmarked sites and end up missing a really good post.
Most of the time when there is an RSS Feed present, you’ll see this icon somewhere on the website. Most of the time it will be extremely visible but it might come in different sizes, colors and shapes.
Most browsers will know whether or not there is an RSS feed for the site that you’re currently viewing. Depending on your internet browser, you may notice this icon or an RSS button in the address bar. All you’ll need to do is click on it to start subscribing to that website.
How do I start using RSS?
1) I recommend that you go start up an account with Google. Google is nice because they offer so many useful services and you’ll only need one account to access everything. 2) Once you have your Google account, then you can login to the Google Reader service. 3) You can then use Google Reader to Add Subscriptions or you can manually go to your most viewed web sites and click on their RSS icon. What does an RSS Icon look like?
